Thank you to WB for letting me steal this!
TheWBAndrew: Welcome to The WB Session for Thursday March 29, 2000... Now, most of you might know our guest today as Pacey from Dawson's Creek, or even remember him as little Charlie Conway from the Mighty Ducks. We know him simply as Josh, and he's here today to answer your questions and talk about his new movie, The Skulls, which opens this Friday in a theater near you. TheWBAndrew: So, TheWB.com welcomes Josh Jackson to our first Actor Session. Thanks for dropping by Josh. JoshJackson: Thanks for having me. Glad to be here. TheWBAndrew: We know it's been a busy week for you. You're still shooting Dawson's Creek and you attended the big world premiere of The Skulls earlier this week. Could you tell us a little about Skulls and your character Luke McNamara? JoshJackson: Well, the movie is a fast paced thriller about a student at Yale who's going into his senior year and get's selected into The Skulls... the most powerful society at Yale...everything in life is taken care of by the Skulls - money, scholarships, your whole future as long as you abide by their code... JoshJackson: Luke has problems with this because he has high ethics and morals so he has to do something about it and take a stand. TheWBAndrew: There were some very physical demanding scenes in The Skulls...what did you do prepare for those sequences? JoshJackson: There was a lot of rowing in the movie so I had to practice to get the technique down...everything else came kind of naturally. TheWBAndrew: In between takes on Skulls, what did you do to pass the time during the long breaks ? JoshJackson: Actually there wasn't that much downtime.. It was pretty fast paced. I'd have to say there was a lot of camraderie on the set which was great...the best thing about being an actor is working with a fantastic crew and getting to know other actors while making a film. TheWBAndrew: Ok let's take a fan question... AmandaluvsJosh: Joshua, darling, I love you so much and I am your number one fan, would it be at all possible if you could escort me to my prom on April 14th, it would mean the world to me! I love you so much!!!! JoshJackson: Hahaha.... JoshJackson: Thanks for the offer..but unfortunately I'll be shooting the final ep of Dawson's Creek that day JoshJackson: Hope you have a great time though! TheWBAndrew: Speaking of the final ep...any spoilers? JoshJackson: Let's just say we'll find out who Joey will finally choose...I'll leave it at that...=) TheWBAndrew: Good question Amanda TheWBAndrew: Who are some actors you admire or look up to as role models or inspiration? JoshJackson: Tom Cruise, Anthony Hopkins...hmmm JoshJackson: Ethan Hawke is also good...they're all so talented JoshJackson: Believe it or not...I admire Jessica Biel for the courage she showed on the Gear Magazine photo shoot. TheWBAndrew: Let's take another question from the audience Roswell_Myra: HOWDY! What would you want to do with your life if you weren't in show business? JoshJackson: Right now, if I wasn't acting, I would definitely be in school or working...it's almost impossible to know where my life would have taken me if I weren't acting. TheWBAndrew: Interesting...we've been hearing rumors about you being in Star Wars ep 2 JoshJackson: well.... It would be a great opportunity but right now I don't think I'm in contention for the part. I haven't heard anything back yet..=) Joshua_Jackson_Fanatic: Josh, What do you like doing in your spare time? JoshJackson: When I'm not working I like to go camping...just stay at home and relax. Dawson's shoots 12-14 hour days and sometimes it's just good to come home TheWBAndrew: Josh, what are your plans for the summer? JoshJackson: Headed to Europe... publicty for Skulls in London and then heading home to Vancouver TheWBAndrew: For Skulls were there any scheduling conflicts w/Dawson's? JoshJackson: No, it was mainly done off season TheWBAndrew: What was the main difference between filming Skulls and shooting Dawson's? JoshJackson: Time. Dawson's takes 7 days for a 45 min episode...Skulls took 52 days to make a 2 hour movie TheWBAndrew:: Back to the audience... MJG: What was it like working with Leslie Bibb? JoshJackson: It was a good time on the set. The first night involves developing a strong relationship and a feeling of ease between the actors - especially when it involves the leading man and woman - she's great - a very strong girl...she won't take any *** from anyone...=) TheWBAndrew: Is there anything you learned or got from working on the film that you didn't expect before filming? JoshJackson: hmmmm..... JoshJackson: I didn't have that many expectations. It was my first real leading role. It was the most physical demanding role as well...jumping, running, rowing...I guess survival was the main goal...everything was unexpected because I didn't know what to expect. Willum: Josh, Dumb unoriginal question i know, but what kinda music are u into? JoshJackson: Any kind of music...I'm listening to Ben Harper right now, JoshJackson: old style jazz - Dizzy Gillespie JoshJackson: anything but country.=) winnie: At what age did u start acting and do u enjoy it? JoshJackson: My first gig was actually on my 11th birthday so I had a very good day...=) Jen93: What's your favorite NHL Team JoshJackson: That would definitely have to be the Vancouver Canucks! jaa: Do you have a fave tv show? What is it? JoshJackson: I'd say the Simpsons, Law & Order...definitely Dawson's TheWBAndrew: What about favorite movies...any good ones lately? JoshJackson: Well actually...this is the first time my taste ran concurrently with the Oscars JoshJackson: I really enjoyed American Beauty. I also liked The Insider too. Misery: Favorite books? JoshJackson: Breakfast of Champions, David Copperfield... JenWyz622: Are you going to be starring in any other new movies later on this year? JoshJackson: A movie called Gossip opening on April 21st...then it's back to filming Dawson's Witter1: How did you like working w/ NSync on Saturday Night Live? JoshJackson: It was a blast...they're really good guys. They're rock stars and I thought I'd get them plus their entourage and everything but they were really cool...good guys TheWBAndrew: How about that scene about "If these walls could talk" on SNL? TheWBAndrew: any feedback from Michelle WIlliams? JoshJackson: I don't think she approved of my.. well euphemism for her ...well, let's just say she was cool LAwriter: what do you most want to achieve in life? JoshJackson: Very simple: to have "lived". KarismaV: Josh, If you were stranded on a desert island, and could only take one other member of the cast with him, who would it be? JoshJackson: Hmmm..... JoshJackson: You're putting me in a corner here... JoshJackson: I'd have to say...Jonathan Lipnicki JoshJackson: =) TheWBAndrew: Really? JoshJackson: =) BeachGrl128: Does Pacey resemble you in real life at all? JoshJackson: Yes, we look a lot alike and we're about the same height. Seriously though... there are a lot of elements of our personalities that are similar. I try to bring a lot of my own personality to Pacey. TheWBAndrew: okay a few more questions and then it will be time to turn on Dawsons Ashley_n_h: Do you find it strange playing a character who is 6 years younger than you? JoshJackson: Actually it's easier. You get to go through that period in life again...almost like a second chance Cazz: Which character in Dawson's do you mostly relate to? JoshJackson: well...as Pacey, I get along differently with everyone which of course is an understatement. As Josh I definitely get along with everyone in the cast. angelK2000: do you like it better in the U.S. or Canada? JoshJackson: Well I like Canada because that's my home... in Vancouver Nicole Seurer: Which college would you want to go to if not acting on Dawson's? JoshJackson: Right now I haven't the foggiest JoshJackson: You know what I can stay for another 10 minutes...so let's take a few more questions....then I have to go to dinner i_luv_u_Josh: Josh- I saw you on Rosie and I told my mom about how you said the Cable company took away your cable because you forgot to pay the bill, she said that people are usually hired to pay the bills for people who work showbiz. Did you hire anyone? JoshJackson: Actually this one was my bad. I just forgot to pay...I had someone who use to do it but not on this one...Actually, it's better that I don't have cable...more free time thefan: I am so nervous at getting the chance to reach you. Do you ever get nervous when speaking in public or meeting fans? JoshJackson: Yeah, it's actually kind of surreal and I do get nervous in crowds ...it can be kind of weird I mean because it's probably the case that they're there to see "Pacey" as opposed to Josh. ..but I do appreciate all the fans...=) Joshsgirl1323: Was it hard for you to do live tv? JoshJackson: With the whole SNL experience, It's kinda hard at first...it's different than film or Dawson's but it went by fast..before I knew it, it was over MJG: Would You like to do more serious dramatic roles in the future? JoshJackson: My desire, if I could continue acting is to do all types of roles. I'm actually hoping to do a comedy but they are hard to find. RACHELfromIHJ: I want to ask Josh how it was doing The Daily Show with Jon Stewert because he said he idolized him in highschool, and I did too, (I'm the same age as Josh so I was on the same planet back then)... Jon just seems like he'd be a really, really cool guy JoshJackson: Oh definitely...he's a real cool guy. Rachel, If you're like me and a big fan of Jon's...what you see on his show is him in real life - he's just hilarious, even more funny during the commercial breaks. Jon and Rosie are my two fave shows to go on... TheWBAndrew: and of course here at TheWB.com, right? JoshJackson: oh, of course... TheWBAndrew: ok here's an interesting one... thefan: I have often wondered what it would be like to be famous, do you ever wish you were just a normal person? JoshJackson: well, that would mean I'm not normal...=)...actually, I try to live outside the traditional definitions of normalcy...but it's not like I'm striving to be a famous person ...most of the time I'm in NC working on Dawson's TheWBAndrew: ok one more...someone out there wants to know what you're wearing right now JoshJackson: What is this? 1-900-WB? JoshJackson: Actually I have my Jon Stewart t-shirt on and jeans TheWBAndrew: With that, anything else you want to add? JoshJackson: Well I just want to say to any of the girls who were in NY last weekend when I was there to tape Rosie... I just want to say thanks to the girls at the lobby of the hotel... so if any of you are here, thanks for understanding and being cool TheWBAndrew: Josh - thanks for dropping by and staying a little extra. TheWBAndrew: We know you have to run to dinner JoshJackson: No problem...hopefully we can do it another time JoshJackson: Bye Everyone! |
