Katie Holmes’ favourite kinds of movies are classic 1980s teen-
angst films like "Sixteen Candles", "Pretty in Pink", and the "Breakfast
Club", which are all mentioned when everybody forgets Pacey's birthday!
Katie admits she’s not easy to live with and that she’s a bit of a slob. After his audition, someone made a comment about James Van Der Beek’s hair. The producers made him get a haircut. Michelle Williams’ father homeschooled her so she could graduate early and pursue her acting career. Joshua Jackson is quite the intellectual who reads philosophy books in his spare time. When the makers of Dawson’s Creek wanted Katie Holmes to fly out to LA for the audition, she turned the trip down because her Toledo, Ohio high school play was opening. Michelle Williams claims to be habitually dateless on Friday nights, self-conscious about her looks and hooked on brownies. Yeah, right! There are posters of Kevin Williamson's "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in the video store, Mr. Gold's classroom and Dawson's Room. Josh once sang with the San Francisco Boys Chorus. Dawson has a "Scream" mask in his room. Pacey was kicked out of high school twice! It takes 7 full days of filming to produce just a single episode of Dawson's Creek. The dog in the J.Crew catalogue that features the cast of Dawson's Creek is Joshua's pet dog Shumba. Two Joshua Jackson fans proposed to him after his role in The Mighty Ducks. Dawson’s Creek is becoming the most talked about show on the air. It is also the WB network’s highest rated show ever. Katie had to sit still for about two hours-three different times-while rubber was poured on her face to make the "Joey mask" on which Dawson practices his kissing. On the set, the actors sit in chairs with their characters’ names on them-not their own names-to lessen the likelihood of fans stealing the canvas backs. On the 47th and 48th minute of the first and second episodes, Tamara and Pacey kissed. Nellie Olsen(grams) almost always wears red, pink, or lavender. There is a man shown on a bridge. That's the show's director. The boat shown in almost every episode is called the "Prowler." The props crew needs to get it together. The sign at the school is black and white, then yellow and blue, and then black and white again. A ship in the creek is named "Dawson's Delight." Bessie was not rowing the boat in "Look Who's Talking." It was being pulled by a rope. Tamara is right handed. In the original presentation video shown to the WB execs, both Joey AND Dawson saw his mom kiss Bob the anchorman. The scene was shot six different ways, and for a long time they were struggling between the Joey-and-Dawson shot or the just Joey shot, which they obviously chose in the end. In the episode "The Breakfast Club," there are a lot of similarites to the actual movie. In "The Breakfast Club", Jen and Pacey are supposed to kiss for 10 seconds, but they actually kiss for 15 seconds. Joey and Dawson are supposed to kiss for 15 seconds but they actually kiss for 26 seconds. In "Dirty Dancing" when Joey and Dawson are walking home from the dance, Dawson is whining about his plans not working. Katie Holmes says, "the remote on the rewind of life doesn't work" instead of "the rewind on the remote of life doesn't work." She caught it and was about to start laughing but James continued on with the scene. In "The Kiss":Dawson's hair is noticeably shorter in the first scene than last season's finale. (remember, its suppose to be the same night) At the end of season 1, it's cold outside, in the last scene (or first scene of season 2), Dawson is wearing a sweater and Joey a jean coat. The next day, it is summer and they are wearing T-shirt and tank top. Jen always has her hair up (the hair people did this to disguise Michelle Williams's hair cut she got over summer hiatus). At the end of the first season finale, Joey and Dawson are kissing and the pan-out shows that the shade in his window is down... At the beginning of the first episode in season two, the shade is up. All the main characters received new hair cuts during the summer, and the crew tried their hardest to cover it up and play it off. In "Crossroads": Pacey complains about not getting his licensee on his this certain day (his birthday), and Dawson doesn't remember. But, at Pacey's dock party the NEXT day, he confronts Dawson about not knowing that that day was his birthday. When Pacey and Andy are sitting on the bench in the city, they are surrounded by rollerbladers, and one of them falls and bust their butt in the background! Dawson's hair is wet when he sees Joey in the rain, and her hair remains totally dry until he kisses her on the shoulder. In "Tamara's Return":When Tamara and Pacey are talking in front of her house, there is a man swimming in the water behind them and he keeps popping up in between their faces In "Full Moon Rising" In this episode Pacey asks Andie to go to a movie at the Rialto. But, in the Season Premiere, it clearly states that the movie theater is being shut down for a while. Dawson and Joey even have their first official date on closing night. In "The All-Nighter": When Joey goes into Gina (Chris little sister's) room there is a poster of Edwin McCain (their song was featured on the 1st season finale) beside her door. In "The Reluctant Hero": Joey didn't close her locker door when she was talking to Jack. In "Sex, She Wrote": Joey and Dawson are at their lockers and then start talking, Joey doesn't close or lock her locker. In "His Leading Lady": Andie's room light is off from the inside, but from the outside it is on when Pacey is climbing up to her window. When Pacey gets to Andie's window, he gives her the rose. In a following shot, you can see that Pacey still has it (you see the stem). Then in the next scene it's gone again. In "A Perfect Wedding": In the scene where Pacey is fixing the cake, his hands are covered with frosting in one shot, then clean in another. Joey is pouring coffee out of a coffee pot, but when she sets it down, she has her hand on the glass part of the full coffee pot that should be VERY HOT. In "Rest In Peace": Andie and Jen are wearing the same dress at the funeral. In "Reunited": Andie is standing near the oven and faucet when she is talking to Tim, and when Pacey walks in on her, she is standing near the refrigerator. Deep into their making out on the boat, there is a shot from behind them where you see Joey's hand messing with the hair on the back of Dawson's neck. But then when the camera shot cuts to the front of them, Joey's hands are both down in front of her waist. We haven't seen Bodie (Joey's sister's boyfriend) until 1st season "Baby". All the boats in the show have registration numbers that start with "NC" meaning they are in North Carolina, instead of "MA" for Massachusetts. Also, the boat Dawson drives is a Scout, which is made in Charleston, SC and not really sold too much out of the southeast. In the 2nd season, Joey has suddenly transformed herself from "tomboy" to "pretty girl," even her wardrobe and make up have changed dramatically. Dawson, Joey, and Pacey always protest against pep rallies, cheer-leaders, football meadheads, and school dances. But, despite their ranting and raving, they have attended both dances. In a few episodes, there is a crossword puzzle bulletin board with the names of authors. In a couple of scenes, the name "Dickens" is cut to "Dick." That's not it, the letters before it are "B-I-G." Get it? On the same crossword puzzle board, the words "dum ass" also appear. There's also a "Saving Private Ryan" and "Amistad" poster in Dawson's room (both from Spielberg). These were put up sometime in the middle of season 2. Most of the characters don't lock their lockers when they leave. There is a hockey mask in Pacey's locker ("Mighty Ducks" reference?) Andie's brother, Tim was blonde in a picture in "Full Moon Rising," but he is dark-haired in "Reunited." In "Alternative Lifestyles," "The Election," and "Rest in Peace" Andie or Joey are wearing the same sweater tank top outfit. It is grey with flower on the tank top. Alexander (Bessie's baby) became white. On the "NC" plates on the boats, the show is shot in Wilmington, North Carolina, even though it's SUPPOSED to take place in a fictitious little town in rural Massachusetts. A few Titanic connections and spoofs in DC. The first was in "High Risk Behavior" when they did the famous nude portrait scene in reverse (Joey drew Jack naked). Second in "Be Careful What You Wish For" has a spoof of the sex scene in the car with Jen and Ty as the culprits (windows of Dawson's brand new Ford Explorer are fogged and suddenly Jen slams her hand on the steamy window and sort of slides it down, leaving a smear). |
